Browser extension

Bolt in your browser

The extension masks sensitive data before it reaches an AI chat site, searches your open tabs, and fills logins and one-time codes from your vault. It talks only to the Bolt app on your own machine.

Current version 1.0.21, shipped with Bolt 0.1.174. Installed copies update themselves.

  • Chrome and Brave:

Bolt by Sparcle on the Chrome Web Store. Choose Add to Chrome (Brave shows the same button). The browser keeps it up to date from the store.

  • Edge:

Edge installs from the Chrome Web Store once you choose Allow extensions from other stores, which Edge offers on the store page. Then choose Get or Add to Chrome. Edge keeps it up to date from the store.

  • Firefox:

Install the Bolt add-on (1.0.21). It is signed by Mozilla, so Firefox offers to install it straight from this page, and it updates itself whenever Bolt releases a new version. Requires Firefox 115 or later.

  • From the Bolt app:

In the Bolt app, Settings offers Add Bolt to your browser and picks the right route for it: the store, or a read-only copy kept inside the app that updates whenever Bolt does.

  • Safari:

Not shipping yet. It will arrive inside the macOS app rather than as a separate download, so there will be nothing extra to install.

For IT

Deploying it across an organization

Both packages can be force-installed and kept current from a managed policy, which avoids the store prompt and developer mode entirely: ExtensionInstallForcelist or ExtensionSettings for Chrome, Edge and Brave with the store id gienjniafokikboelkbbnnjbgjnejaom, and ExtensionSettings in policies.json for Firefox. The extension reads managed policy for its own settings too, including whether page capture is permitted and which hosts it applies to. Talk to us and we will send the policy templates for your management tool.

For a browser that cannot reach the store, the same extension is here as a package to load by hand or host yourself: bolt-chrome-1.0.21.zip. Unzip it, open chrome://extensions, turn on Developer mode, and choose Load unpacked. A copy loaded this way does not update itself, and Chrome warns about developer-mode extensions after a restart, so prefer the store or policy wherever they are available.
